About Me

Hi I’m Kit, a writer and a mental health activist with a deep belief in the power of vulnerability, nature, and creative expression. My work is rooted in a single mission: to break the silence around mental health and remind people they are never alone in their pain. I care about truth-telling, connection, and creating space for the stories we’re often told to hide.

I discovered poetry in early recovery from drug addiction in 2022. What started as a personal tool to make sense of my emotions, past trauma, and evolving reality quickly blossomed into a powerful creative outlet. Hesitant at first, I began sharing my poetry on social media and was both surprised and moved by how deeply my words resonated with others—strangers who found pieces of their own stories reflected in mine. My debut book of poetry, set to be published in 2025, marks an achievement that I’m is not only proud of but hope can reflect the power of recovery from drug addiction.

Alongside my poetry, I have advocated for mental health for a number of years, using my social media platforms to speak openly about my journeys with addiction, bipolar disorder, ADHD and PTSD, in the hope to dismantle stigma, spark conversations and help make other feel less alone. However, I have recently found that to create the change I am after I can’t just speak anymore. So, I have decided to turn my advocacy into activism by attempting to set a world record, trekking 8500km from the northernmost to the southernmost points in Europe in under a year. Stride Beyond Silence will be the first continuous solo trek of its kind, but its not just an extreme endurance challenge, its also a campaign for real change and to make some serious noise around suicide prevention and support for those who are struggling with their mental health. Everything I do, from writing to walking, is part of the same message: your pain matters, your voice matters, and you are worth saving.

Poetry

For me, poetry began as a private lifeline—scribbled in notebooks at the start of my recovery, when words were the only way I could begin to untangle what I was feeling. It helped me process years of pain, addiction, and mental illness, and slowly, it became something more: a way to connect, to heal, and to speak what so many of us are taught to keep silent.

When I started sharing my poems online, I had no idea how deeply they would resonate. But the response was overwhelming—messages from people who saw themselves in my words, who felt a little less alone because of them. That connection is what keeps me writing.

If you’d like to hear more of my poetry, you can find it on my social media, where I share pieces regularly. And I’m so excited to say that a full collection is coming soon—raw, honest, and full of the truths I once thought I had to hide.

I also run online poetry workshops designed to help others tap into their own voice. Whether you're completely new to writing or deep into your creative journey, these sessions are a space for expression, reflection, and release. You can find details and upcoming dates in the Events section.

Poetry saved my life. Now I write in the hope it can help someone else feel seen, too.

Paintings

My art is an extension of the same truth that lives in my poetry—a raw, intuitive expression of emotion, memory, and healing. I paint to process what words can’t always hold. Each piece is created from a place of feeling rather than form, often inspired by nature, recovery, and the quiet beauty found in the in-between moments.

They are abstract pieces made with acrylic and spray paint. I use a layering and scraping away method, which involves paint brushes, palette knives, sponges, my hands, pieces of wood, dried leaves and flowers.

Some paintings have small poems and others I leave without. Each one holds different stories, journeys, emotions and anecdotes.

My paintings are personal, imperfect, and honest—just like the journey that shaped them.

They are available to purchase in my shop.
